Among the numerous works by the refined Sano di Pietro, housed in the room of fifteenth-century Sienese painting of the Museum of Sacred Art in Buonconvento, there is also this small and very elegant panel representing the Madonna and Child, angels and Saints Apollonia and Bernardino (Madonna of the Goldfinch). Refined elegance that is evident from the robes embossed with a gold motif, the flowering shoots that adorn the hair of the angels and the plumage of the bird.
