Fresco pictography on lime (fresco) with intervention in 18 kt gold leaf. Original work: fresco, 1303-1306, Padua, Scrovegni Chapel
Description
The scene is linked to traditional iconography. Against the background of the ultramarine blue sky, the cross of Jesus stands out in the center, in a whirlwind of sorrowful angels who rush, tear their garments, collect the blood of Christ from their wounds. At the bottom there is the Magdalene kissing Christ's feet, on the left we can see a group of women supporting the fainting Mary and on the right that of the soldiers fighting over Christ's robe. At the foot of Calvary there is a cavity with bones and a skull, traditionally the one Adamo.La laid down is of the highest quality, with a meticulous attention to detail that sometimes leads to virtuosity, as in the semi-transparent loincloth of Christ.
Information
The work is made through the technique of Pictography, according to ancient methods and natural materials; it is handmade entirely in Umbria.
