Description

In the frescoes of the Domus del Bracciale d'Oro in Pompeii, the sky is turquoise; the trees, flowers, birds, and fruits are drawn in a realistic and detailed way, using a pasty and slightly diluted color;  instead twigs and leaves are splashed with rapid strokes and soft colors. There are many shades of the color green: painters are attentive both to the characteristics of the botanical species and to the way in which the light hits the plants, they also consider whether trees and bushes are in sunlight or shade. All this gives great freshness and naturalness to the landscape.
