Oil pictography on panel. Original work: oil on panel, 1521, Florence, Uffizi Gallery
Description
The Musical Angel is one of the painter's most famous paintings. The The protagonist is a little angel intent on arpeggio a lute apparently too big, with the ear resting on the instrument to ascertain the correct execution of the notes and the right hand that pluck the strings by making the sound. Curly hair red recalls that of the same author, while the wings that unfold from the putto's back, are white on the outside and red in the entire part. Touches of red are also traceable on the nose and in the cheeks to accentuate the contrast of warm and cold tones that they enliven the chromatic orchestration. Especially interesting is the dark background below which inscriptions were found that refer to the history of the painting.
