Fresco pictography on lime (Fresco). Original work: fresco, c. 1511, Vatican City, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel
Description
God is suspended on the right inside a nimbus supported by angels and cherubs. On the left, Adam is lying on a meadow overlooking a grassy slope. The progenitor is semi-lying completely naked with his arm resting on his right knee. The right arm rests on the ground and keeps the torso raised. His features are those of a young man. The body is strong and muscular. His right leg is extended along the slope while his left is flexed. Adam is represented in profile and coming to life he observes in the direction of God as he raises his left arm towards Him. God wears a pink robe and is depicted lying to the left and supported by angels. His long beard and gray hair are blown by the wind. A large red-purple veil surrounds the angels and God. A thin transparent green fabric is suspended at the bottom and flutters under the angel who supports the Eternal. The encounter between God and Adam takes place against a background devoid of details.
