Fra Angelico, Madonna and Child with Angels

Description

The work was commissioned by the Guidalotti family for their Chapel, dedicated to St. Nicholas, in the Church of San Domenico in Perugia. The predella was dismembered over the centuries, and some panels are preserved in the Vatican Pinacoteca. The Guidalotti Polyptych is divided into three main panels on a gold-colored background and depicts in the central register, the Madonna enthroned with the Child, surrounded by four angels holding baskets with flowers in their hands.
