Description
Claude Monet's study Woman with a Parasol with the figure of the young woman facing left is the best known of the two. In fact, it is more worked and more contrasted than the specular one. The Impressionist master painted this painting en plein air so quickly. In fact, the broad and material brushstrokes in the sky are very clearly noticeable. Even on the lawn, the brushstrokes, although smaller in size, are direct and material. The orientation of the gesture follows the direction of the wind by tilting to the left. In reality, near Suzanne's shadow, the grass seems to calm down and the brushstrokes are almost vertical. The stalks of the grass bend again on the top of the hill pushed by the wind. Even on the light robe, the brushstrokes are oriented with respect to the vertical of the figure. The same workmanship is found in the scarf and parasol. The details of the young woman's dress and physiognomy are not significant. In fact, the face is limited to a pink background and blue shadows.
