Giotto, Preaching to the Birds
62,00 € iva inclusa
Fresco pictography on lime (fresco). Original work: 1296-1299, Assisi, Upper Basilica of San Francesco
Description
It is one of the most famous scenes of the cycle, because it tells an episode much loved by popular devotion. The saint is represented aged and his face expresses great sweetness. The trees are life-size, unlike those painted in the Byzantine landscapes of scenes such as the Alms of the Cloak or the Miracle of the Spring. The background is captivatingly simple, with trees in spring against the backdrop of the sky decorated with lapis lazuli; in the central part the color has partly fallen leaving a lighter tone.
Information
The work is made through the technique of Pictography, with ancient methods and natural materials; it is handmade entirely in Umbria.
