Fresco pictography on lime (fresco). Original work: c. 1459, Florence, Palazzo Medici Riccardi
Description
In a landscape of almost late Gothic taste, rich in courtly details such as castles, hunting scenes and fantastic plants, probably inspired by Flemish tapestries, the portraits of the Medici family are placed in the foreground on the wall to the right of the altar, personified in the figures on horseback: a young man, perhaps an idealized portrait of Lorenzo the Magnificent with great pomp, he precedes the procession on a white horse, followed by his father Piero il Gottoso and his grandfather and head of the family Cosimo de' Medici, both riding a mule. The frescoes unfold scenographically around the viewer and one has the impression of admiring the procession without interruption, from within a curve of its course.
Information
The work is created through the technique of Pictography, according to the ancient methods and natural materials; is handmade entirely in Umbria.
