231,00 € iva inclusa
Oil pictography on panel. Original work: Fortitude, Temperance and Six Heroes of Antiquity, 1496-1500, Perugia, Collegio del Cambio
Description
In this work, the six heroes stand out for the richness of the decorations of the armor and robes, with crests and hats sumptuously elaborated. They are, from the left, Lucius Sicinius Dentatus, Leonidas, Horace Cocles, Publius Scipio, Pericles and Cincinnatus. The two lunettes of the Sages and the Heroes mark a peak in the painter's classicism, achieved through soft modeling, a bright and rich palette.
Information
The work is made through the technique of Pictography, according to ancient methods and natural materials; it is handmade entirely in Umbria.
Each frame is made of solid wood, with an interlocking joint; the first primer is based on Bologna gypsum and natural glue; the later are in tempera. The decoration is handmade and, usually, it is studied on the work it will contain. The design is inspired by the museum frames of the various eras.
