Description
The Madonna of Humility (or Virgin with Child and Angels) is a painting (tempera on panel, 131×107 cm), made by the Sienese painter Sano di Pietro towards the middle of the fifteenth century, and preserved at the Civic and Diocesan Museum of Montalcino, located in the premises of the former convent of Sant'Agostino, in the Sienese territory. The work comes from the Church of San Francesco in Montalcino and depicts the Virgin seated on the ground in the center, on a gold-colored cushion, with the Child in her arms and on the sides some angels (musicians and in prayer). The figures are set in a garden full of flowers, all painted on a golden background.

The work is executed through the technique of Pictography, according to ancient methods and natural materials; it is handmade entirely in Umbria.
