Observing the painting The painting can be divided into two parts, on the left stroke dominant is the red of the poppies, on the right the uncultivated lawn, devoid of particular vegetation. Worthy of note is the technique created for painting poppies. In fact, if the poppies in the foreground are more than those at the bottom so as to suggest the idea of depth, Monet creates flowers in an original way. No trace of the preparatory drawing, inconsistent brushstrokes aimed at restoring the impression of poppies and evoking effects of chromatic brightness.
