53,00 € iva inclusa
Fresco pictography on lime (fresco) with intervention in 18kt gold leaf. Original work: fresco, c. 1440, Florence, Museo di San Marco
Description
In this fresco, the Apostles are seated in a row at the table of L-shaped, and four of them, who were sitting on the stools are kneeling and set aside to facilitate the vision of the scene. On the left is the Virgin Mary, also Kneeling. The spatial rendering is remarkable, with well-calibrated figures depending on the ideal distance. The scene conveys a sense of immobility, being essentially intended to inspire meditation and prayer. This new phase of Angelico's art was certainly influenced by the particular destination of the rooms, where the monks lived a life of contemplation, prayer and meditation. The figures are sober and simplified, the colors are delicate and soft, but with a lower and dull range than works on wood.
